Each year since 1990, for the duration of May, the US recognizes the contributions and impact of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) on the history, culture, and achievements of our country. AAPI Heritage Month is a time to pay tribute to the many generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have influenced America’s history and will continue to enrich its future success. As an Asian American myself, AAPI Heritage Month holds an important place in my heart.
The inspiration for Further Food can be traced back to my mother, an immigrant who brought many of her Chinese traditions with her to the US. She came from a family of Chinese medicine doctors and always used ancient remedies in our home growing up. Anytime I became sick as a child, my mom would turn to medicinal herbs and pull from the time-tested practices of using food as medicine. These were the memories that inspired me to build the Further Food community and our products.
Here at Further Food, we celebrate the food and medicinal heritage that the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders brought to the United States. We’re rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, constantly inspired by ayurvedic principles, and obsessed with the holistic health approach of Eastern medicine. We work with a variety of health experts and health practitioners to craft our products. It’s truly an East meets West blending of cultures and philosophies. Our goal is to continue to contribute to improving the American approach to healthcare so that treatment and prevention become harmonious. Because we believe that good health begins with what you put into your body.
This year, for AAPI Heritage Month, I’m proud to say that the Further Food team is partnering with NAPAWF. The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) is the only multi-issue, progressive organization bringing communities together to advocate for policy changes for AAPI women and girls in the US. NAPAWF’s mission is to build collective power so that all AAPI women and girls can have full agency over their lives, families, and communities.
We’re donating all proceeds from the online sales of our bestselling Vanilla Collagen (28 serving size) throughout the month of May to this incredible nonprofit that is making a difference in the lives of AAPI women across the country. And on top of that, I personally will be providing a matching donation to NAPAWF because I deeply believe that the work they’re doing is vitally important.
We’re proud to partner with NAPAWF so that other AAPI women can feel empowered to take lessons from their family traditions, just as I did from my mother, and create positive change in American culture.
Thank you for your continued support of Further Food and to the many AAPI men and women who have made a positive impact on US history and continue to enhance our culture today!
