Certified Yoga Instructor Nicki Silverman knows how difficult it can be to find time to exercise. Here she gives you some motivational tips and mantras to get you inspired. Then follow along with her easy to follow, simple yoga video in which she demonstrates basic yoga poses for a short, energizing workout. Doing yoga regularly can lead to improved flexibility and strengthen your muscles, while helping you reduce stress and anxiety. Even 10 minutes can make a difference, so make time today to move, whether with this video or any other type of exercise. You can do this!
As a certified yoga instructor, I do both yoga and lots of other physical activity daily. But my life hasn’t always like this. I used to work a full-time desk job and struggled to find time to exercise. Eventually, I started bargaining with myself to work out for at least 10 minutes. What started as just 10 minutes a day gradually morphed into a whole new lifestyle and career.
I know it can be challenging to carve out time to exercise, to cut out processed foods or sweets, or just to make time for healthier habits. I get it. I’ve been there. So, let’s do this together.
First off, I want you to read these mantras out loud:
I am not stuck.
I am not too tired.
I am not too busy.
I believe in myself more than that.
I will choose wholesome ways to nourish my body instead of reaching for a quick processed snack.
My body is so much more capable than I’m giving myself credit for.
My health is too valuable to quit on.
So, make a deal with yourself! I will move my body for at least 10 to 30 minutes a day. THIS is the beginning of something great! A small step that could turn into a greater physical, mental, and emotional transformation. Some ideas are:
Get moving with my yoga video. Doing yoga has so many benefits! Yoga can help you to increase flexibility and strengthen muscle tone. Doing yoga regularly can improve your breathing, strengthen your heart, and help you lose weight. Getting the blood flowing can also improve your mental state of mind, helping you destress and even sleep better!
To get you started, I’ve created a 12 minute Yoga Flow video. If you find the workout really challenging the first time, keep with it! Do as much as you can and try again tomorrow! Feel free to add reps or even do it twice in a row to increase your stamina and endurance! Make it a goal to increase your yoga workout time week by week. You will see and feel the benefits!
Just move! If yoga is not your thing, I encourage you to find a form of movement that makes you happy. Forcing yourself to jog because you think you should may not ever get easier or feel fun unless you actually like to jog! Try out different group fitness classes at your local gym, ask a friend to go with you. Seek out a personal trainer who can help give you goals to work toward so you don’t just feel like you’re walking in circles. Seek guidance, and above all – Just Move! Do something today that tomorrow you will be proud of. Tap into the energy you have. You are so worth it!
I am co-hosting a yoga retreat to Mexico in April 2019 – more details HERE!
